Canary Wharf’s eastward expansion needed two new pedestrian bridges spanning Bellmouth Passage. Existing navigation rights along the waterway required both bridges to swing clear of the passage.

The bridges share a similar architectural language and structural principle with a spine box girder cantilevering from a single inset pier on the embankment.
Careful consideration was given to construction procedure, particularly the heavy lifts, on the congested site. The brief included structure design of complex linking walkway structures, lift-shafts and stairs.
