Wellington Academy Boarding

A new boarding house at this secondary school comprises cellular wings of accommodation surrounding an open-plan amenity hub. Cross-laminated timber panels are deployed both in the repetitive cross-wall construction of the bedroom wings and in the widespan roof over the common spaces. Excellent acoustic and sealing properties of solid timber construction make the rooms comfortable and quiet. The complete frame was erected on site within three weeks with no dusting, cutting or wastage of any kind. The building achieves a BREEAM Very Good rating.
