The Yard, University of Roehampton

A former storage yard has been transformed into an important communication link at the heart of the campus. The new public space for people to meet, work, and hold events links Froebel and Digby Stuart Colleges. The design creates an economical brick-lined square, and site conditions were maximized with the re-use of a listed wall, reducing environmental waste. The historic brickwork characterising The Yard was made safe by a careful combination of repair, buttressing and underpinning.
